Shoreline Orientation & Mobility LLC (Shoreline O&M) is owned and operated by Patrick Gafney. Patrick has more than thirty years of experience as a licensed Orientation and Mobility Specialist working with school-aged children who are blind or have a visual impairment including students with additional abilities. Patrick provides orientation and mobility services for school districts and individuals in northeast Wisconsin.
Conducts initial and re-evaluations to assess students’ current functional O&M skills.
Provides successful educational plans and strategies to meet each student's individual needs.
Provides direct instruction to students in various areas of orientation and mobility skill development.
Provides guidance and support to students, educators, families, and schools for successful outcomes.
Provides opportunities for students to participate in expanded core curriculum activities.
Patrick is committed to ensuring that students with a visual impairment or are blind receive the highest quality education and support. With the experience and dedication, Patrick empowers students to reach their full potential and navigate the world with confidence. He works to help students identify their personal barriers and eliminate them with practice and life experiences. Thus, helping students develop into independent individuals based to their specific abilities.

Patrick is married to one of the best Orientation and Mobility Specialists he knows, his wife Diane. They are proud of their two grown sons who are pursuing their own dreams in engineering and environmental science. Patrick enjoys spending time with his family and friends and doing a variety of actives with his sons. He also enjoys going to broadway shows and sporting events, golfing and experimenting with new dinner recipes.
n addition to Patrick’s priority of family and his students, he is proud to volunteer with the AFS Intercultural Programs. AFS is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities through youth exchange to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. Patrick helps coordinate the hosting of international students in American families and high schools as they embrace new cultures and make life-long connections.
While pursuing his degree at Western Michigan University, Patrick began working with one of the first sports education camp for youths that are blind or visually impaired. This introduction to physical education, recreational opportunities and competitive sports opened his eyes and heart to field of blindness.
Patrick is a retired International Goalball Official who officiated at the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. He also officiated at World Championships, Regional Championships, Paralympic Qualifiers and USA National Championships in additional to the tournaments around the United States and in Canada. Prior to being a goalball official, Patrick was an Assistant Coach and Head Coach of the Men’s United States Goalball Team from 1997-2001 which included coaching at the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games. These opportunities offered Patrick the incredible opportunity to learn from and work with some of the world’s best players.
